Continue to online booking ›From Fenham, you can see Lindisfarne Castle across the water and Bamburgh Castle in the distance a little further down the coast. It takes about 10 minutes to drive to Lindisfarne, and 20 minutes to drive to Bamburgh.
Other favourites include the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle which sit on a fantastic walking route from Craster (where you’ll find the legendary Craster Kipper) to Low Newton.
Others nearby include Chillingham Castle and Ford Castle.
Alnwick Castle (about 25 minutes away) is still home to the Duke of Northumberland’s family, one of the largest inhabited castles in Europe, set in dramatic parkland and the setting for some of the Hogwarts scenes in the first two Harry Potter movies. The Alnwick Gardens (part of the castle estate) are an attraction in itself.
