The Granary – what’s new?

As 2015 draws to a close, ‘Phase 2’ of our development work at Fenham is beginning to near completion after many months of building, and several years of prior planning. 2016 will see the launch of our new Granary building, providing additional facilities for our guests.

Before its conversion, the Granary was a crumbling old barn that would have continued to deteriorate. Developing the building has not only saved it from decline, but created something that we hope our guests will enjoy and benefit from. This photo shows work in progress.

The Granary contains two new bedrooms, Eider and Kittiwake, taking our total number of bedrooms to seven, but there’s more to it than bedrooms.

A major feature for Bed & Breakfast guests is the lounge area that spans the Granary’s top floor, with a sea view towards Holy Island. It will be available for all guests to use as a space to relax and unwind after a day out, and provides groups with a communal space to socialise.
Another major consideration in the plans was a workshop space for Gill who will use the Granary as her own creative space as well as running a programme of creative workshops, details of which will be published as soon as they are available.

The Granary also houses the Tin Room – a multi-use space for hosting other activities and events.

It’s been a long, and often challenging, journey getting to this point but it’s exciting to see our plans finally coming to fruition and we’re looking forward to putting the new building to use next year.
